About the Telefonica Movistar Honda RC211V 　 Honda's RC211V, employing evolutionary V5 4-stroke engine technology, dominated the 2002 MotoGP Class of the WGP, winning 14 out of 16 races. Continuing the legacy into the 2003 season, a total of seven RC211V motorcycles were used by four Honda teams. The motorcycle itself continued to mature with the shape of the upper cowl being altered by changes to the ram air duct, and a larger gap on the sides of the seat cowl. Mechanical changes led to a more powerful engine and the use of a new style clutch enabling smooth engine breaking. Honda's unique unit pro-link suspension also became more resilient. Team Telefonica Movistar Honda, managed by F. Gresini, invested in two riders, Spaniard Sete Gibernau from Suzuki, and Japanese rider Daijiro Kato. In the opening race of the season, Kato passed away after a tragic accident mid-race. The second race of the season, the South African GP, saw a tribute race by Gibernau to his late Japanese teammate, with the Spaniard adorning his motorcycle and suit with Kato's number 74. Gibernau gained pole position, but slipped into second from the outset of the race. He was able to regain the leading position from Ducati's T. Bayliss and withstand the chase from 2002 World Champion V. Rossi, also riding a Honda RC211V, to take out an emotional victory. Gibernau gained victories also in France, where he was joined by new teammate Japanese rider Ryuichi Kiyonari, and in Holland. 　 　 Decals for all three Telefonica Movistar Honda riders 　 The Telefonica Movistar Honda RC211V was designed in cobalt blue, the color of their major sponsor the Spanish telecommunication company, Telefonica Movistar. A checkered fluorescent yellow design was added to the cobalt base on the cowling. Other detailed coloring of engine parts is outlined in the instruction manual. This kit features decals for all three Telefonica Movistar Honda riders, S. Gibernau, R. Kiyonari and D. Kato. 　 　 About the model 1/12 scale model, Overall length: 172mm, Overall width: 50mm. The two-stroke, V5 engine has been replicated to perfection. Every characteristic of the actual Telefonica Movistar Honda RC211V such as the newly designed upper cowling resulting from ram air duct modification and the enlarged intakes on rear cowling has been accurately replicated. Engine and suspension assembly on frame imitates that of the actual motorcycle. Upper and seat cowling, and duct cover areas can be affixed/or detached via tiny, precision-made screws even after completion. Frame and swing arms are reproduced with high quality metal plated parts.
